Questions before you connect anything?

Common questions

Is my financial data safe?

Yes. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, BookWise meets HIPAA requirements for Protected Health Information, and your books live in your own Google Workspace account rather than on our servers.

Do I need to know accounting?

No. You pick categories from a list built for therapy practices, and BookWise turns them into the profit and loss and balance sheet your accountant expects. If you can categorize an expense as rent, you can do your books.

I'm months behind on my books. Can I catch up?

Yes. When you connect your bank, you choose how far back to pull transactions, and bulk categorization makes even a year of catch-up an afternoon project rather than a lost weekend.

Do I need Google Workspace? What about a BAA?

Google Workspace is required because BookWise is built to run in your own Workspace account. Whether you need a BAA depends on the data that enters BookWise. Many practices' bookkeeping data does not contain PHI, but client-identifying details can sometimes appear in payment descriptions from checks, Venmo, Zelle, or similar sources. If PHI may be present, use a Workspace setup that is appropriate for handling it.

Can my accountant see my books?

Yes. You can invite your accountant with secure read-only or edit access, and export clean reports at tax time either way.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Nothing. Because your books live in your own Google account, they stay with you. Cancel anytime and keep every transaction and report.

Does it work for insurance-based practices?

Yes. BookWise works for solo and group practices, private-pay or insurance-based, from sole proprietors through S-corps. If money moves through your practice accounts, BookWise tracks it.
